MidAmerica's Intercultural Studies program combines coursework in ministry and missions, giving students the training to lead others in spiritual growth and the skills to connect with individuals from different cultures.
As a Intercultural Studies major, you'll take courses in missions, Bible, theology, church history, world religions, cultural and social anthropology, and ministry in practice. You can also choose concentrations in sociology, urban ministry, business, music or ministry ordination, to gain additional expertise in the area that interests you most. This allows students to design an academic path that best supports their spiritual calling.
Why MNU?
MidAmerica's academic culture emphasizes international experience, including study abroad, summer field experiences and mission trips. You'll have plenty of opportunities to minister in foreign countries before you even graduate, both as part of your curriculum and in your free time (like spring break). We collaborate with the Coalition of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) to ensure that students can travel to wherever they feel called to serve. Our students travel to Europe, Central America, Asia and more.
Our location near Kansas City gives students opportunities to learn more about urban ministry, through service positions with agencies like the Kansas City Rescue Mission or day-to-day volunteer work. We also offer a one-semester internship with the Bresee Institute. With locations in Kansas City and Los Angeles, the Bresee Institute offers seminars, work shops and consulting in urban ministry.
