A
Doctor of Civil Law is somewhat equivalent to other countries'
Juris Doctor programs. The specific degree title is offered by Oxford University and Cambridge University, but there are similar programs offered in the United States.
Like the J.D. programs, a
Doctor of Civil Law covers subjects in
litigation, legal writing,
civil procedures, contracts,
criminal law, and property and
torts. Those graduates with considerable experience and expertise of civil law can later become
judges, defense lawyers, or
public prosecutors.
